Experience of Sperm Test / Sperm Count test in Bangalore ( Go for It )

This would be one of the few tests that you might encounter, if you have been trying to conceive for long.

I never thought that I will be subjected to it, but anyways had to get it done for my doctor's satisfaction. 

My Experience in the Hospital :

So I was in this hospital called Manipal Hospital, Bangalore (India), one of the multi specialty and a well known hospital here. I was sent to the Andrology department, which is better known as MARS. (Manipal Andrology and Reproductive services)

I was initially shy to ask the receptionist about this test, but she looked very professional in booking my appointment. Total Cost of Sperm Test in Manipal hospital is 600 Rs (11 USD). Also they might charge you additional 1400 Rs (26 USD) (, if your doctor has advised you for DFI (DNA fragmentation Index). I have explained in another post as, why DNA fragmentation Index is not required.

I went at the given time and the staff there directed me to a LAB like room , where the male staff gave me a small bottle , and wrote on it my name , wife's name , age and days of abstinence .

They then showed me a private room, with an air cooler, along with a TV and DVD player, and an old looking cushion chair. Well I checked the DVD player, out of curiosity and I found it working, but I did not bring any DVD with me. Anyway, I will rate it as a systematic experience .

The Results / Diagnosis / Treatment :

The result was faster, next day, I got my Sperm test report, which confirmed the suspicion that yes I was the one who was the culprit for delay in my wife’s pregnancy.

I took the test twice .After the first report, I was put on Paternia tablet and some additional zinc supplements.

The second report showed some improvements as listed here:

->Sperm Concentration was 44 improved to 58

->Sperm Motility (Progressive) was 28 improved to 40

->Sperm morphology (only 2 % live sperms) and it remained same

->DFI was 56 % (I didn’t repeat it despite my doctor saying so)

Although the results were still sub-optimal.
